Application: threads are typically used to provide adjustment to a linkage rod or a mounting point (fixed or adjustable). MCP also threads tubing in conjunction with swaging. MCP cuts and rolls both left and right hand threads on rods up to 1.0" and 25mm in diameter (SAE classes 1A-2A-3A UNF and UNC). Larger threads are available in volume. Plated Threads: plated threads are cut to Class 2A (metric to "-g") and checked to Class 3A (metric to "-h"") after plating. Threads specified as 2A (or "-g" for metric) with a plated finish will be 2A ("-g" for metric) prior to plating, and 3A ("-h" for metric) after plating (per BSME B1.1-1989 and B1.13M-1983). Finish: plain, painted or plated are available. If plating is specified, standard MCP plating is zinc with a yellow dichromate treatment. Metric: both metric rod diameters and thread sizes are available up to size M20. Larger sizes are available in volume. Cost Savings Tip: for linkage applications, specify length of threads so that the linkage will have a minimum of 1.5 material diameters thread engagement at the maximum extension. When a linkage does not require adjustment, consider fixed-end linkages. Choose plating instead of painting where finishes are required.
