| Application: MCP upset forgings are used in a variety of applications
including linkages, handles, supports and braces. Upset forging is a hot
forming process that gathers material on the end of a rod, and then forms
it into the desired shape. In comparison to cold heading, upset forging
allows longer work pieces, a choice of more material types (high carbon
steel, stainless steel), and a larger amount of gathered material (measured
as "material diameters").
Secondary operations including machining can be added to provide holes, grooves, threads, or other characteristics not possible via upset forging alone. Materials: MCP upset forges carbon steel and stainless steel materials. Capabilities: MCP can upset forge materials with diameters from 1/8" through 5/8". Larger diameter upset forgings are available in volume. Finish: plain, painted or plated are available. If plating is specified, standard MCP plating is zinc with a yellow dichromate treatment. Cost Savings Tip: Choose zinc plating with a yellow dichromate finish instead of paint.
